Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care within an ophthalmology setting. You will assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating various eye conditions, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care. Your expertise in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology will be essential as you interact with patients and support their needs throughout their visit. Travel to our other locations in Orlando and Daytona Beach is required on occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary eye examinations and gather patient history to assist the ophthalmologist in diagnosis.
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as visual acuity assessments, tonometry, and retinal imaging.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment is functioning properly.
  • Educate patients on procedures, treatment plans, and post-operative care instructions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with the management of medical office tasks including scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Stay updated on advancements in ophthalmology practices and technologies.

Skills

  • Proficient understanding of medical terminology related to ophthalmology and general healthcare.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to eye health.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems, particularly NextGen, is preferred.
  • Strong patient care skills with a compassionate approach to handling diverse patient needs.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced medical office environment while managing multiple tasks.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour
