What are the responsibilities and job description for the Filta Field Service Technician position at Filta Environmental Kitchen Solutions | Montgomery/Central Alabama?
Filta Field Service Technician
Stay active. Work with a team. Build something you can take pride in.
Whether your background is in sports, hood cleaning, roofing, construction, or other hands-on work, we value people who know how to put in the effort and support their team. Our best technicians are dependable, coachable, and take pride in delivering consistent results.
We service commercial fryers, filter cooking oil, and remove used oil for restaurants and other commercial kitchens. We’ll teach you to work safely, cleanly, and efficiently.
What the work is like:
You will move. You will sweat. You’ll be on your feet—bending, lifting, moving equipment, and cleaning fryers in hot commercial kitchens. Outdoor work is generally limited to loading and unloading the van, typically about 15 minutes at a time.
Working clean is part of the craft. We teach you to keep a towel in hand, clean as you go, and maintain an organized work area. Speed develops with skill, while safety and quality remain the standard.
What you’ll do:
Drive a company service van between client locations.
Clean fryers and safely handle, filter, and remove cooking oil.
Load, unload, and care for equipment, supplies, and your vehicle.
Maintain clean work areas and communicate professionally with clients and teammates.
Document services and report equipment or service concerns.
Driving is a core responsibility
You must be comfortable operating a service van, navigating traffic, parking, and backing safely in tight spaces.
A valid driver’s license, passing a motor vehicle record (MVR) review, and meeting company vehicle insurance requirements are mandatory for hire. You must remain eligible to drive throughout employment.
Get better. Get recognized.
We take the work seriously, and we have fun recognizing the people who put in the effort.
Our Dirty 30 Club is one example: service 30 fryers on your own in a single day and earn the T-shirt, the bragging rights, and a little extra in your paycheck. Thirty fryers isn’t easy—and every fryer still has to meet our safety and service standards.
As your skills grow, your earning potential should too. Consistently safe, thorough, and efficient service creates opportunities for higher hourly pay, additional accounts, and greater responsibility.
Grow with us:
Promoting from within is a priority. Our Operations Manager started as a Field Technician and worked his way up.
You’ll receive hands-on training and demonstrate proficiency before becoming fully certified. Strong technicians can advance to Lead Technician roles, training new teammates and helping launch new routes, with opportunities to grow into management as we expand.
What you bring:
Dependability, a team mindset, and a coachable attitude.
Pride in consistent results and caring for clients and equipment.
Ability to work with teammates and handle responsibilities independently.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
