Job Title: CNC Operator
Department: Operations
Reports to: Line of Product Leader
Status: Non-Exempt

Shift: 5am - 1:30pm

Summary of Position
A Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Operator is responsible for the accurate production of CNC parts for use in the creation of a fuel transfer pump. CNC Operators has a background in manufacturing, and they may be experienced in the use of lean tools. They are action oriented, able to multi-task, and able to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
  • Actively participates and is engaged in Line of Product (LOP) and company meetings.
  • Works well with others in a team environment.
  • Adjust machine controls and change tool settings to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.
  • Maintain work area to 5S standards for organization, housekeeping, and inspection. Assist others as needed to support 5S.
  • Start lathe machines and observe operations to ensure that specifications are met.
  • Complete daily production and failure logs.
  • Has the ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Ability to perform to established cycle times while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stop machine to remove finished to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences.
  • Transfer commands from servers to CNC modules, using computer network lines.
  • Check to ensure that workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation.
  • Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems.
  • Monitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctions.
  • Visually inspect work and maintains quality control in product and processes.
  • Actively participates and is engaged in LOP and company meetings.
  • Operate manual, automatic, and semi-automatic CNC, and assembly equipment.
  • Demonstrates excellence in completion of all other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • CNC machining experience.
  • CNC machining equipment set-up experience.
  • CNC tooling setup experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
  • Basic math and computer skills preferred.
  • Can understand and follow both verbal and written standard work instructions.
  • Read, understand, and utilize gauges and micrometers to inspect parts.

Education/Certification

  • High School Diploma or GED

Physical Activities and Requirements of this position

  • Manufacturing environment – Temperature Controlled.
  • May be exposed to, cutting fluid, coolants, diesel fuel, mineral spirits, glue, paint, adhesives, and sealant fumes.
  • Frequently lifts 15 pounds and may lift and place 45 pounds every two minutes and 70 pounds occasionally throughout a day.
  • Able to stand, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift on a regular basis.
  • Ability to maneuver in, around, under, and about factory machinery on a regular basis.
  • Good visual acuity.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Majority of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.14 per hour
