MIGRANT PARAPROFESSIONAL (ELEMENTARY LEVEL)

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Migrant Paraprofessional at the elementary level. This full-time position Plays a vital role in supporting the educational needs of migrant students and their families. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with teachers and staff to provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that all students have the resources and support they need to succeed academically and socially.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers in the implementation of instructional programs and activities tailored to the needs of migrant students.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, reinforcing learning concepts and assisting with homework assignments.
• Help create a welcoming and supportive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and participation.
• Collaborate with teachers to identify and address the unique challenges faced by migrant students, including language barriers and cultural differences.
• Serve as a liaison between the school, migrant families, and community resources, facilitating communication and support services.
• Assist in the development and organization of educational materials and resources that are culturally relevant and accessible.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to migrant education and student support.
• Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
• Support the implementation of school-wide initiatives aimed at promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Attend staff meetings and contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on student success.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher preferred.
• Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting, is highly desirable.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and a second language (such as Spanish) is preferred to effectively communicate with migrant families.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Knowledge of the challenges faced by migrant families and a commitment to advocating for their educational needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also being able to take initiative and work independently.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Familiarity with educational technology and resources that support student learning.
