About the Firm

Figueroa Criminal Defense Group LLC is a growing criminal defense law firm based in Northern Nevada. Our practice handles a broad range of private criminal defense matters, including DUI, domestic violence, misdemeanor and felony offenses, and court-appointed criminal defense matters.

The firm currently represents clients through private-retained engagements as well as court-appointed and public-defense assignments. As the firm’s caseload continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated Nevada licensed attorney to join our team on a part-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants meaningful courtroom experience, hands-on criminal defense experience, and the opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding criminal defense practice.

Remote Position

Part-Time Criminal Defense Attorney

The initial position is expected to be approximately 15–20 hours per week, with flexibility depending on caseload and the attorney’s availability. The position may be structured as an independent contractor arrangement, with the potential to develop into a longer-term associate position for the right candidate.

There will be required in person court appearances for the Reno/Sparks area and other rural jurisdictions. However, the courts can sometimes be flexible and approve zoom appearances.

Responsibilities

Depending on experience and demonstrated competency, responsibilities may include:

· Appearing in Reno Municipal Court and other Northern Nevada courts

· Handling arraignments, status conferences, pretrial hearings, trials, and other routine criminal proceedings

· Representing clients in misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor, and felony criminal matters

· Reviewing discovery

· Conducting client interviews and case consultations

· Negotiating with prosecutors regarding charges, plea agreements, and case resolutions

· Researching and drafting motions and other legal pleadings

· Handling court-appointed criminal defense matters where permitted

· Providing courtroom coverage for Mr. Figueroa

· Communicating with clients regarding case status and upcoming proceedings

· Assisting with trial preparation and litigation strategy

· Maintaining accurate and timely case notes and deadlines

· Performing other criminal-defense duties consistent with the attorney’s experience and competency

· The option to join Mr. Figueroa in legal educational content creation

Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in attorneys who are:

· Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Nevada

· Interested in developing a career in criminal defense

· Comfortable appearing in court or eager to develop courtroom skills

· Strong legal researchers and writers

· Professional and responsive with clients

· Organized and capable of managing multiple matters

· Comfortable working independently while communicating effectively with Mr. Figueroa

· Interested in gaining substantial hands-on criminal defense experience

Experience-

Attorneys who recently graduated from law school and passed the Nevada bar are encouraged to apply, as are attorneys with several years of criminal-defense experience.

Prior criminal-defense, public-defense, DUI, or courtroom experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate.

Training will be offered for applicants who recently passed the Nevada bar exam.

Compensation

DOE- $50-$90 per hour

Competitive hourly compensation based on experience, courtroom experience, and level of responsibility.

The firm is open to discussing compensation with candidates based on their qualifications and the structure of the position.

Schedule

The initial position is expected to be approximately 15–20 hours per week, although the schedule can be flexible depending on court obligations and the attorney’s availability.

Court appearances will generally require in-person availability, but some can be made remotely.
