About The Role

We are hiring an Associate to join our portfolio operations function, working closely with our investment team and senior leadership.

• You will be an integral part of Fifth Wall’s investment team, focused on partnering with our founders and supporting our portfolio companies.
• You will own the portfolio operating rhythm—quarterly KPI tracking and portfolio reviews—and report these insights to senior leadership.
• You will continue to build, improve, and optimize our portfolio reporting process to reduce friction for founders and their teams while streamlining internal Fifth Wall resource allocation and decision-making.
• You will partner with deal leads to evaluate pro rata investments in addition to preparing and delivering pro rata investment memos.

This role is full-time and in-person in our Los Angeles office (majority of the week). 

What You’ll Do

• Quarterly portfolio engagement.
• Speak with portfolio companies' leadership on a set cadence—at least quarterly—to track progress, surface risks, and identify where Fifth Wall can help.
• Prepare structured call pre‑reads; capture quantitative KPIs and qualitative context in CRM/portfolio systems.
• Triage and track follow‑ups—near‑term and upcoming financing needs, hiring needs, product feedback, and BD intros—and drive them to closure.
• Portfolio review & executive readouts.
• Consolidate quantitative and qualitative inputs into a clear quarterly portfolio review.
• Standardize metrics by stage/business model (AI, software, fintech, marketplaces, software‑enabled hardware; revenue, margin, burn multiple, runway, and key milestones).
• Deliver a clear, actionable output and present insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Fundraising & pro rata investment support.
• Own pro rata memos and support relevant deal partners in the transaction process.
• Refresh company performance, market context, valuation comps, cap table, returns, and returns analysis.
• Coordinate IC materials, data requests, and closing checklists.
• Support portfolio companies’ fundraising processes via introductions to investors within the Fifth Wall network.
• Platform & Function Building.
• Reporting & data: Single source of truth in CRM/portfolio systems; automated reporting; standard KPIs.
• Build and refine Fifth Wall’s internal platform—tools, processes, and operating systems—as the firm’s needs change over time.
• Fundraising & investment processes: Support firm fundraising efforts and investment team processes as needed to improve Fifth Wall’s internal capabilities continuously.
• Process & enablement: Partner with the investment team and leadership to improve internal VC processes, including sourcing, pipeline, investment committee, reporting, data consolidation, and AI‑enabled workflows.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience (1- 5 years): Background at a startup, investment bank, consulting firm, real estate company, or other fast‑moving, analytical environment.
• Communication: Clear writer and presenter who can distill complexity for executives, founders, and Limited Partners.
• Built‑world tech interest: Genuine curiosity about technology for the built environment (AI, software, fintech, marketplaces, and hardware‑enabled software).
• AI‑first processes: Interest/experience building AI‑first processes (agentic workflows) to automate routine work, reduce human touch, and free the team to focus on higher‑impact priorities.
• In‑person mindset: Energized by working from our LA office the majority of the week; you value in‑office collaboration for culture‑building, mentorship, and organic ideation.
• Nice-To-Haves
• Financial modeling fundamentals (cap tables, returns, secondaries, SAFEs, option pools) and ability to translate implications for ownership and proceeds.
• Familiarity with KPI frameworks across business models and company stages in AI, software, fintech, marketplaces, tech‑enabled services, and software‑enabled hardware.

• Employment Type: Full-Time
• Location: Los Angeles (in-person majority of week)
• Compensation: Competitive base salary plus performance‑based bonus
• Salary range: $125,000 to $160,000
