What are the responsibilities and job description for the Short Form Video Editor position at Fifth Arc?
We're a content agency working with established personal brands and businesses. We're hiring a contract short-form editor to support our editing team on Reels, TikToks, and Shorts.
This is project-based, not full-time. Volume varies week to week. If you want consistent, predictable hours, this isn't it. If you want quality work with a team that cares about craft, keep reading.
What you'll be doing:
- Editing short-form video for client accounts (talking-head, b-roll layered, podcast clips, lifestyle content)
- Following brand-specific style guides — every client has their own look, pacing, and feel
- Captions, sound design, light motion graphics, color
- Hitting turnaround windows (usually 24–48 hours per video)
What we need from you:
- You can match a brand style and stay in it. This matters more than your personal flair. If you can only edit one way, this won't work.
- Fast turnaround without dropping quality
- Strong communication. You respond, you ask questions when something's unclear, you don't ghost
- Proficient in [Premiere Pro / CapCut / DaVinci — pick yours]
- Understand short-form pacing, hooks, and retention
- Reliable file management (Frame.io, Dropbox, or Google Drive workflows)
Bonus:
- Experience editing for personal brands, coaches, or service businesses
- Sound design instincts (not just slapping a trending audio on)
- Available across most US time zones for quick feedback loops
Logistics:
- Contract / 1099
- Remote
- Start with a test edit (one video, our raw footage, our brand guide). If it's a fit, we move into ongoing project work.
To apply, send:
- 2–3 short-form samples that show your range (ideally for personal brands or businesses, not just personal projects)
- The software you edit in
- Your typical turnaround time
