What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Success Engineer position at FieldStack?
FieldStack is looking for a Client Success Engineer to join our team as we grow. This is a developer role embedded directly in Client Success. You will build and maintain the integrations that connect FieldStack to the systems our clients rely on, and you will build the internal tools, automations, and data solutions that make our support and implementation teams faster and more effective. If you like solving real problems for real clients, working close to production data, and shipping tools that get used immediately, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain integrations between FieldStack and third-party systems (e.g., ERP, e-commerce, loyalty, payments, EDI, and analytics platforms) for our client base.
- Design and build internal tools, dashboards, and automations that help the Client Success team support clients more efficiently from ticket and workload visibility to data lookups and diagnostics.
- Write and maintain SQL against client databases to investigate issues, correct data, and support configuration and migration work.
- Partner with support, implementation, and account management to understand recurring pain points and turn them into scalable technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot integration and data issues across client environments and see them through to resolution.
- Document integration specs, internal tools, and support processes so solutions are maintainable and repeatable across the team.
- Collaborate with the core development team when support or integration work surfaces product-level needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Professional experience building integrations with third-party APIs — REST, JSON, webhooks, and similar.
- Strong SQL skills (MS SQL Server or similar), including comfort writing and troubleshooting queries against production data.
- Experience with a scripting or application language such as Python, JavaScript, or C#.
- A builder's mindset, someone who is comfortable identifying a manual or repetitive process and turning it into a tool, script, or automation without being asked.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with a non-technical support team to translate their needs into technical solutions.
- Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage multiple client-facing and internal projects at once.
- Experience with retail, e-commerce, or POS systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with Freshdesk, Azure DevOps, or similar support/PM tooling is a bonus.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
