The salary for this position is paid from federal funds. Federally funded positions are supplemental, and therefore subject to availability of federal funds.
Primary Purpose: The Title III funded aide provides supplementary academic and language development support to identified Emergent Bilingual (EB) students. The aide supports the implementation of federally funded programs and activities that enhance English language acquisition and academic achievement.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school or GED
- Must meet ESSA paraprofessional qualifications
- Valid Paraprofessional Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish preferred
- Ability to interpret data
Experience:
- Experience working with EB Students or in an educational support setting preferred
- Experience with formal and informal school assessments preferred
- Experience working with computer applications to maintain students' records and progress preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Supplemental Student Support
- Provide targeted support for English language development and the mastery of grade-level content
- Assist students in understanding and completing assignments aligned with English Language Proficiency Standards goals
- Support small group activities under teacher direction focused on enhancing language proficiency.
- Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials to address the affective, linguistic, and cognitive needs of EB students.
- Assist with administrating and scoring objective tests designed to measure linguistic and academic progress of EB students as directed by campus or federal program staff
- Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
Federal Program Compliance and Support
- Prepare and maintain documentation of services to students under Title III guidelines
- Support implementation of federally funded parent and family engagement activities for EB families
Other
- Participate in faculty meetings, training, and special events as assigned.
- Follow all district policies and safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
