Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Location: Field of Dreams Movie Site (Dyersville, IA)

About The Role
Responsible for management of the day-to-day operations of The Field of Dreams Movie Site, providing on-site leadership as an integral member of the management team and reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. The role involves continual direction and oversight for all business, programmatic, and administrative affairs, all business and program functions, including strategic planning, venue management, sales, forecasting, marketing, event planning, program development, and baseball/softball tournament operations. Requires a candidate with elite communication skills who can lead all elements of the workplace and embed themself in the community to be a positive contributor.

This position manages all day-to-day aspects of one of the world’s top sports and tourism destinations, and will be expected to preserve, support, and enhance the overall culture of The Field of Dreams while the venue enters into a unique growth stage.

What You Will Do
●  Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, ensure that The Field of Dreams Movie Site is an exceptional visitor experience with an elite level of customer service
  • Daily on-site management of staff with accountability and responsibility
  • Establish and promote a positive, inclusive culture of high performance and continuous improvement
  • Member of the executive team and an integral component of organizational decisions and strategic growth
  • Assist Chief Operating Officer in the planning and execution of any future Major League Baseball events on the site
  • Assist with Chief Operating Officer in the coordination and execution of the $80-million baseball/softball/entertainment private build north of the Field of Dreams Movie Site, adapting the daily operations as the project phases in over a multi-year period
  • Effectively lead and assist department heads in executing the functions of each department of which you have oversight 
  • Mentor and develop staff using a positive, supportive approach on a consistent basis while seeking a collaborative, problem-solving theme
  • Establish and monitor staff performance on a continuous basis
  • Make timely, intelligent business and operational decisions while using superior judgment during the decision-making process
  • Become involved in the Dyersville and Dubuque County community through active participation, focusing on developing relationships with civic leaders, local businesses
  • Maintain current partnership and sponsorship relationships and secure new sponsorship and business opportunities
  • Evaluate policies, procedures, and protocols, and recommend improvements for the venue while focusing on the efficiency of events and operations
  • Recruit and hire staff on a continuous basis to maintain appropriate staff levels and build bench strength
  • In collaboration with (Field of Dreams tournament provider) Baseball Factory, collaborate with planning and execution of all youth baseball and softball tournaments
  • Observe and enforce proper safety procedures
  • Maintain personal integrity at all times and in all matters, consistently representing The
    Field of Dreams Movie Site in the best possible manner
  • Exhibit a high level of personal organization and time management
  • Other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, business, marketing, sports administration, or a related field
  • A proven individual with at least three years of leadership, previous experience as a department head with multiple employees (oversight of multiple departments preferred), plus a demonstrated track record of performance in all areas
  • Professional history of consumer-oriented activity, preferably in a sports-related field
  • Demonstrates exceptional judgment in performing duties
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Skills to develop and execute strategic plans to meet both short- and long-term business goals
  • Exceptional customer service skills and extensive experience in a customer-centric environment
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization 
  • Demonstrable leadership abilities in changing, ambiguous, and challenging situations
  • Ability and willingness to work a demanding schedule, including non-traditional hours (nights, weekends, and holidays), in non-traditional settings, within a team atmosphere
  • Ability to problem solve quickly and an ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to communicate, motivate, and empower a team toward a common goal
  • Vast experience or sound working knowledge of baseball/softball
  • Good working knowledge of the latest technology, computer programs, and social media
  • Knowledge of safety practices, including first aid and all applicable safety standards for a public facility, is a plus
  • Successful completion of pre-employment, comprehensive background check
