This is a two-year Research Scientist position in the Geology Department. The Research Scientist will work on the project titled New discoveries of Early Cretaceous floras from northwestern Gondwana reveal a cradle of plant diversity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Study of Early Cretaceous plants from Colombia and Ecuador
- Processing of sediment samples for mesofossils
- CT scanning/processing of Paja Fossils
- Scientific Publication of results
- Attend BSA or GSA conferences
- Creation and dissemination of outreach events
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Biology or Geology
- Paleobotanical expertise
- Knowledge of Early Cretaceous plants
- Fieldwork experience
- Writing, mentoring, and communication skills
Supervision Received:
Receives general supervision by Negaunee Associate Curator of Paleobotany
Supervision Exercised:
The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
