What are the responsibilities and job description for the Door Knocker position at Field House Strategy?
Bestie, if you’re looking to make up to $6K a month, can you stop scrolling for a minute and read the sweetest job spec?
Ok great. Here’s the deal.
You walk neighborhoods near you in Bristol or Middlesex, knock doors, follow a simple script, ask a few questions, log the interaction in the app, and move to the next house. That’s the job. Not a “community engagement fellowship.” Not a rebrand. Walking, talking, tapping, paid.
One thing before you romanticize the sneakers: this is politics. You’re talking to voters for a campaign. You do not need a hot take, a yard-sign collection, or debate-club trauma. You need to stay polite, follow the script, and keep moving. Some people will be nice, some will be busy, and some will become constitutional scholars the second you knock. Smile, log it, next porch.
The money part
You get $1.50 per verified door.
- 20 doors/hour = $30/hour pace
- 25 doors/hour = $37.50/hour pace
This is performance-based pay, not a guaranteed hourly wage. But the math is simple: more verified doors = more money.
Hit 30 hours in a week while meeting standard and we add $150. That means a 30-hour week at 20 doors/hour pays $1,050, and at 25 doors/hour it’s $1,275. Work six solid shifts at 25/hour and you’re at $1,500 for the week.
We count the week Monday–Saturday. And because waiting forever to get paid is deeply unserious, payday is the following Tuesday. Every Saturday you get a text: your doors, your take rate, what you made, and what a 30-hour week would’ve paid.
Refer someone who sticks for two weeks and hits standard? You get $100. If your group chat is broke, act accordingly.
What counts as a door?
A door pays when the app can verify you were actually there and you logged the result correctly. Nobody home? Mark Not Home. They open the door and tell you no? Mark Refused.
Do not panic-tap the wrong thing because the conversation got awkward and accidentally donate $1.50 to the universe. The app has receipts.
Our standard is 20 verified doors/hour with a 15% take rate. Take rate just means how often a real person answers and talks to you. You are not expected to convert the neighborhood. You are expected to actually knock it.
Two weeks under 17.6 doors an hour or under 15% take rate and you come off the schedule. No motivational TED Talk. No “let’s circle back.” Just keep your numbers where they need to be.
Schedule
Weekdays: 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM window. Minimum shift 4 hours — pick your shift.
Saturday: up to 10 hours available.
Sunday: up to 10 hours available.
You can choose part-time and pick your days, or go full-time at 30 hours and six shifts.
Flexible does not mean imaginary. If your shift starts at 1:00, you should be knocking at 1:00 — not leaving the house, not ordering Starbucks, not sending “omw.”
We love flexibility. We also love clocks.
What you need
You’ll need your own car, your own gas, a smartphone, shoes that can survive the assignment, basic people skills, and some urgency.
We give you the turf, the app, the script, the training, and the voter list. You bring reliability and the ability to not disappear mid-shift because somebody with a lawn sign hurt your feelings.
No campaign experience required. No sales experience required. No political science degree required.
Who usually does well here?
Competitive people. Independent people. Students. Gig workers. People with another job. People who want flexible income and hate watching the slowest person in the room make exactly the same money as them.
If you hear “the faster you work, the more you make” and your immediate reaction is “bet,” you’ll probably like this.
If walking sounds like oppression, weather feels like a personal attack, talking to strangers is your nightmare, or 1:00 PM feels more like a suggestion than a time, we support your journey — probably from somewhere else.
One boring adult paragraph
This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Taxes are not withheld, and you are responsible for your own tax obligations. Some work-related expenses may be deductible depending on your situation.
Ask an actual tax professional. Not TikTok.
