Duties
- Install, test, and troubleshoot low voltage systems including CCTV, fiber optic cabling, Ethernet networks, VoIP telephony, and access control systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately execute installations.
- Conduct fiber splicing and cable management using power tools and hand tools to ensure high-quality connections.
- Perform network installation tasks involving Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, LAN setup, and data center cabling.
- Provide exceptional field service support by diagnosing issues on-site and repairing telecommunication equipment promptly.
- Ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and local electrical regulations during all installations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including system configurations, test results, and service reports to support ongoing maintenance.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Low Voltage Installer or Service Technician with a strong background in electrical or telecommunication systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of computer networking concepts such as Ethernet, LAN/WAN configurations, Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and network schematics.
- Familiarity with fiber splicing techniques, cable management (Cat5, Cat6), and telephony systems including Avaya and VoIP solutions.
- Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, ohmmeters, and other testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Electrical experience with NEC standards applicable to low voltage wiring installations.
- Valid field service or technician certification preferred; experience working in data centers or telecommunication environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of telecommunication protocols such as Ethernet, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and telephony systems like Avaya is highly desirable.
