What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Team Member - Classical Music E-Commerce Company position at Ficks Music?
Description & Details
Ficks Music is a small, young, ambitious company focused on ensuring the widest possible reach for print and digital music. In addition to the Ficks Music brand, we own Theodore Front Musical Literature which sells print music to university libraries. We also operate the U.S. stores for Bärenreiter and Breitkopf & Härtel.
Ficks Music is seeking a team member to help with warehouse organization, product shipping and packing/receiving of online orders. Our ideal candidate should desire to be a part of a fast-growing, rapidly changing, tech-focused company in the classical music retail/wholesale industry.
Since Ficks Music is a small team with almost no hierarchy, everyone enjoys the opportunity to participate in many responsibilities that are outside of their primary role. This means that you should expect to do many things outside of your main responsibilities and that your role will evolve with the business.
About Ficks Music
Ficks Music is the leading seller of classical music to performers ranging from individual musicians through major orchestras. With the acquisition of Theodore Front Musical Literature, we are also one of the primary sources for academic libraries to acquire sheet music.
We have an informal environment where everyone is given immense leeway to solve problems and grow. The atmosphere is collegial, relaxed and fast, with an emphasis on finding best-in-class solutions to ensure that our customers are delighted. Since the business is rapidly growing, everyone’s roles grow and change with it.
About You
There is no specific educational or professional experience required for this role. However, a background in music is helpful and, ideally, you will have had some experience in a warehouse, library or similar environment.
In general, the following statements describe everyone on the team and should resonate with you:
- You are inquisitive and like to learn. You’re comfortable figuring things out.
- You dislike inefficiency and can’t help but improve things around you.
- You take initiative, but you do so understanding how your choices and actions impact the bigger picture.
- You pay attention to details.
- You like being part of a team and doing what's best for the team. You’re not a big fan of people who say, “That’s not my job.”
- You “own” what you do and take pride in the outcome.
- You want to work in an ever-evolving, fast-paced environment.
- You are willing to admit when you make a mistake. You know why things went wrong and you learn from them.
This role involves shipping books and managing stock, so pragmatically you need to have the ability to perform detailed-oriented work for extended periods of time, lift 40 pounds, squat and reach above your head.
