Job Summary
The Plant Manager is responsible for directing and managing all plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, and shipping/receiving. This role ensures that manufacturing objectives are achieved efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively while maintaining high standards of performance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily plant operations across production, maintenance, quality, and logistics functions.
- Coordinate activities with departmental managers to ensure manufacturing goals are met on time and within budget.
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and profit plans.
- Implement cost-control systems for capital expenditures, labor, and operational expenses.
- Monitor plant performance metrics related to production, quality, and efficiency.
- Determine staffing requirements based on business needs and ensure optimal workforce levels.
- Set clear performance expectations and manage employee performance in alignment with company goals.
- Minimize labor overtime, premium freight costs, and repair expenses.
- Maintain plant facilities, grounds, and equipment; oversee upgrades and modifications as needed.
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and production teams.
- Implement and sustain preventive maintenance programs.
- Promote workplace organization, cleanliness, and operational excellence on the shop floor.
- Ensure a safe work environment and lead regular safety meetings and initiatives.
- Track and manage company-owned and leased tractors and trailers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or at least 5 years of plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of budgeting and financial statements.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, methods, and continuous improvement programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
