Payroll & Benefits Strategy
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting company operations by partnering with leaders to drive people strategy, optimize processes, and enhance the employee experience. This role works closely with Finance, People & Culture, and the leadership team to deliver scalable HR solutions that support business growth.
This position reports directly to the Human Resources Director in Dallas, Texas.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Benefits Strategy
- Own and oversee semi-monthly payroll for approximately 250 employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Partner with Finance to align payroll processes, reporting, and audits with broader financial controls
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including multi-state registrations and tax requirements
- Manage complex payroll elements including garnishments, certified payroll, and regulatory reporting
- Lead benefits administration strategy, including enrollment, vendor coordination, and employee communications
- Partner with leadership to evaluate and optimize benefits offerings for cost efficiency, competitiveness, and employee value
- Oversee payroll and benefits audits, reconciliations, and vendor performance
- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, and organizational effectiveness
- Partner with leaders to support team planning, workforce needs, and organizational changes
- Help drive people initiatives that improve engagement, retention, and team performance
- Support the implementation of HR programs, policies, and best practices aligned with business objectives
- Support key HR functions including leave management (FMLA), workers’ compensation, safety programs, and compliance
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee data, leveraging HR systems effectively
- Conduct audits and process reviews to enhance efficiency, compliance, and scalability
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and improve HR policies, systems, and initiatives
- 5 years of progressive HR experience, including:
- Payroll and benefits administration (minimum 1 year)
- Recruiting experience (minimum 2 years)
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and drive initiatives with a strategic, business-oriented mindset
- Experience supporting multi-state payroll and compliance requirements
- Strong understanding of compensation, payroll, and benefits practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS systems preferred
