Job Responsibilities (but Not Limited To)
- Loading fiber optic cables into the fiber blowing machine.
- Monitoring cable tension and pressure during the blowing process.
- Locating and accessing underground or aerial conduit points.
- Performing necessary cleaning and preparation of conduit to ensure smooth cable insertion.
- Installing and managing temporary access points as needed.
- Operating the fiber blowing machine, adjusting pressure and settings based on cable type and conduit conditions.
- Troubleshooting machine malfunctions and performing basic maintenance.
- Utilizing testing equipment to verify signal quality and cable continuity.
- Identifying and resolving any issues related to cable damage, poor connections, or improper installation.
- Maintaining detailed records of cable runs, locations, and installation details.
- Completing necessary paperwork and reports regarding project progress.
- Candidate will need to have the equipment to blow an 864 count fiber 20,000 ft at a time
- Understanding of fiber optic cable principles, basic knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, climb poles (for aerial installations), and lift heavy equipment.
- Adherence to safety protocols regarding electrical hazards, trench safety, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a crew to achieve project goals.
- Able to pass a background and drug screening
