What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Fiber Construction Company?
About Fiber Construction Company
Fiber Construction Company (FCC) builds outside-plant fiber for the carriers, ISPs, and MSOs that own the network. We self-perform aerial and underground construction nationwide — HDD, plowing, trenching, aerial strand and make-ready, fusion splicing and OTDR testing, FTTx, and 24/7 restoration — across all 50 states.
The Role
We're hiring an Operations Manager to bring structure and visibility to fast-moving, multi-market operations. You'll sit between the field and the office, keeping production, reporting, and closeout on track as we grow. This is the person who makes sure the right information reaches the right people and that projects keep moving in the right direction.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate daily between field crews (owned and partner) and the office team
- Track production and daily reporting across multiple job sites and markets
- Improve and standardize workflows, from mobilization through closeout
- Keep project schedules, milestones, and deliverables visible to leadership
- Support scheduling, resource planning, and crew/partner coordination
- Hold the closeout standard: GIS-ready as-builts, documentation, and compliance
- Flag risks early and keep accountability clear across teams
What You Bring
- Experience managing operations in construction, telecom/OSP, utilities, or a similar field-based business
- A systems mindset — you build repeatable processes, not one-off fixes
- Strong communication and the ability to coordinate across field and office
- Comfort tracking production data and turning it into clear reporting
- Self-direction in a remote, multi-site environment
- Willingness to travel to job sites as needed
Nice to Have
- Direct outside-plant / fiber construction experience (aerial, underground, splicing, testing)
- Familiarity with production-tracking / project-management tools and GIS as-built workflows
- Working knowledge of NESC, OSHA, and MUTCD requirements
