Fiat Powertrain Technologies of North America, Inc. (a global Brand under our parent company, Iveco Group) is looking for a Marine Engine Sales Manager to join our team! The Marine Sales Manager is directly responsible for managing and growing FPT Industrial’s marine business in North America. This role serves as the commercial point of reference for customers, supporting them in selecting the most suitable engine solutions for their applications and contributing to the achievement of sales targets for the region. The role focuses on promoting FPT Marine engines, powertrains, and hybrid solutions to shipyards, fleet operators, naval architects, distributors, and system integrators. The ideal candidate will combine commercial and technical competencies to ensure that customer needs are translated into the right product configuration while driving new business opportunities in line with FPT Industrial’s strategic roadmap.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports, requiring a high degree of autonomy, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer & Market Development
- Manage and grow the marine business via FPT distributors, shipyards, commercial fleets, government agencies and OEM partners.
- Monitor market trends and identify new business opportunities across all customer channels.
- Promote FPT Marine engine families (e.g., NEF, Cursor, Vector) and hybrid/auxiliary solutions.
- Prepare commercial offers, technical quotations, and supply contracts.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction throughout the entire sales cycle.
- Participate in trade fairs, customer events, and technical presentations to promote FPT Industrial marine business.
- Prepare sales forecasts, reporting, and performance analyses for management.
Commercial & Technical Support
- Provide customers with in-depth commercial and technical guidance on engine selection, power ratings, duty cycles, cooling systems, certification requirements, emissions compliance, and installation best practices.
- Become and serve as the regional and commercial technical reference with FPT Distributors, shipyards, commercial fleets, governmental agencies, distributors, and OEM partners across the region.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product Marketing, Application Engineering, After Sales, and Quality teams to ensure end-to-end customer support.
Project Lifecycle Management
- Support customers throughout all project phases: concept evaluation, feasibility, design-in, factory acceptance, commissioning, and post-delivery support.
- Participate in sea trials, technical workshops, and audits when required.
- Provide structured feedback to FPT Industrial’s global teams to support product development and portfolio evolution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience in sales, application engineering, or business development within the marine industry.
- Strong understanding of marine propulsion, diesel technology, hybrid systems, and vessel integration.
- Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, and class requirements (RINA, DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s, etc.).
- Strong customer orientation and relationship building mindset.
- Negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex deals.
- Business development mindset and goal-oriented approach.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workload with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems preferred
Additional Requirements
- Availability to travel – primarily within North America up to 50% of the time
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- The role requires a combination of office-based work, customer site visits, and travel to shipyards and industrial environments. Working near or on water will be necessary, as such adverse weather conditions are a possibility.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, use a computer, and communicate effectively
- Must be able to board vessels safely, as well as climb ladders and gangways, and work on uneven surfaces and/or in tight spaces
- Occasional standing, walking, and visiting manufacturing or marine environments may be required
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
