Position Summary
The Construction Superintendent / Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising civil construction activities associated with electrical substations, switchyards, and related utility infrastructure. This role oversees field operations, subcontractors, safety compliance, schedule performance, and cost control while ensuring all work is performed in accordance with project specifications, utility standards, and regulatory requirements.
The position serves as the primary liaison between field crews, project management, engineers, and the client to ensure successful delivery of projects on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management
- Manage all phases of civil substation construction projects from mobilization through project closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, work plans, and resource allocations.
- Monitor project budgets, production rates, and cost performance.
- Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Track and manage change orders, RFIs, and field directives.
Requirements
- 5–10 years experience in heavy civil construction or utility infrastructure projects.
- Experience with substation construction, utility infrastructure, or industrial civil work strongly preferred.
Technical Knowledge
- Civil construction methods for utility substations
- Earthwork, foundations, and reinforced concrete construction
- Blueprint and specification interpretation
- Construction scheduling and cost control
- OSHA safety standards and environmental complian
