The Terminal Piping Division handles mechanical piping construction projects at oil and petroleum terminals that range in size from under $1 million to $5 million plus in contract size and is known for its ability to build anything within the fence, including the fence. Typical projects include terminal upgrades/optimizations/expansions, ethanol/butane integration, additive and biodiesel blending, VCU/VRU installations, and significant work around live product (drain downs, hot taps, hot welds, etc.).

- This position is a 100% travel position for a working Superintendent to lead a six to eight man crew on terminal project sites located in the Mid-Atlantic, Southern and Gulf Coast areas of the United States.

Essential Responsibilities
Job Management
- Keep the Project Manager (PM) updated daily on the following:
- Upcoming material needs
- Items completed the previous day
- The plan for the current day
- Responsible for the management of job hours. This includes accurate time reporting and ensuring that all hours worked are necessary and productive.
- Communicate with PM on personnel needs ahead of need at the site.
- Explain task requirements to other crew members such that they can complete on their own without constant interaction with the superintendent.
- Plan ahead with regards to tool, material, and equipment needs. Communicate ahead of time with PM to avoid rush shipments or work delays.
- Work with the PM to create a detailed task list to be accomplished in the current week and a clear plan for the following week. Break down larger projects into smaller 2-week projects to be able to measure productivity.
- Review production graphs sent by PM and discuss with PM and crew.
- Be visible and accessible on job site throughout the day.
- Build relationships with customer contacts and inspectors on site.
- Understand scope of work in order to determine which items are extras. Before work begins on an extra, either communicate with FHG PM and receive approval to proceed or receive written approval from customer PM.
- Maintain a system to receive and track all FHG and customer ordered materials.
- Communicate a vision for each crew member. Talk with each crew member at least twice per year about goals for their career.
- Demonstrate ability to delegate appropriate duties and tasks to secondary leadership.
- Hold secondary leadership accountable in driving production.
- Work with DM to develop detailed and specific plan to elevate and train secondary leaders (foreman) on crew.
- Train new or inexperienced employees. Don’t give them tasks and expect them to figure it out. Be patient and be willing to teach employees the safe and correct way to perform their tasks so that good habits are formed from the beginning. This includes maintaining compliance with FHG’s NEST program.
- Document with HR any disciplinary measures taken due to crew member performance. Includes documentation of verbal warning or written warning.
- Promptly report incidents and near misses to the office.
- Make use of equipment checklists, safety checklists, and procedures as they are found in either in FHG 360 or the Employee Portal.
- Lead quality daily JSA meetings and weekly safety talk meetings or delegate to a competent crew member. If delegated, superintendent must still be actively involved to ensure the quality of these meetings.
- Have awareness of and enforce all company and client-related safety policies and procedures.
- Enforce all company and client policies by following the progressive discipline policy outlined in FHG 360. No amount of noncompliance should ever be tolerated by the superintendent.
- Make suggestions on procedures to help improve process/tools/equipment.
- Submit timecard on a daily basis to track production hours including specific details to allow production analysis.
- Submit credit card receipts via Finvari on a weekly basis.
- Always give the job number when placing and picking up orders (unless paying with credit card).
- Fill out weekly equipment logs or delegate this task to someone on the crew.
- Complete quarterly tool inventories or delegate this task to someone on the crew.
- Follow through on vehicle/equipment maintenance. Our Fleet Manager initiates, but needs cooperation from superintendent.
- Respond to emails or texts from the PM or other office personnel within 24 hours, or sooner if requested and it is time sensitive.
- Ensure company communications are received and understood, when applicable, by the entire crew. This includes items such as memos, newsletters, event invites, and policy changes.
- Champion the Code of Ethics. Lead by example and hold your crew accountable.
- When issues or questions arise around pay scales, per diem rates, or other sensitive personnel matters, bring concerns to the division manager for discussion.

Required Education:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience working in a construction related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a foreman or other supervisory role, supporting $500,000 plus projects.
