Family Guidance Centers, Inc. is a substance use treatment organization offering comprehensive behavioral health programs, including medication-assisted recovery, to individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) and co-occurring mental health conditions. With over 25 years of experience and multiple locations across the state, we provide a full continuum of care for substance use disorder, from prevention and harm reduction to treatment and recovery support. Our programs integrate FDA-approved medications for the treatment of substance use disorders, including all three medications approved to treat opioid use disorder (buprenorphine, methadone, and naltrexone). We strive to meet our patients where they are, bringing care outside clinic walls via telehealth and mobile services and ensuring patients have access to harm reduction resources and education.
Your Impact as a Substance Use Counselor
We’re looking for a dedicated professional to provide essential counseling and support services to individuals overcoming substance use challenges. In this role, you will:
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans using research, clinical experience, and patient history.
• Conduct patient intakes, biopsychosocial assessments, and treatment planning.
• Provide individual and group therapy to a diverse range of clients.
• Maintain a caseload with a minimum of 20 billable hours per week.
• Ensure at least 51% of work time is spent in direct face-to-face counseling.
• Evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
Schedule: Monday - Friday (6:30 AM - 2:30 PM) with Saturday rotation (7:30 AM - 10:00 AM)
Start Date: ASAP
Work Location: 484 Lee St., Des Plaines
Pay Rate: $43,000 - $55,000; based on experience and certifications

Experience and Skills:
Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma / GED required; Experience in/with substance use, detox programs, medication-assisted treatment, behavioral healthcare and/or community relations encouraged to apply.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: IAODAPCA Certified Alcohol and Other Drugs Counselor (CADC) required, or able to obtain within allotted time of hire date.
