Job Title: Facility Maintenance (Temperature-Controlled LTL Warehouse)

Location: Lemont, IL

Department: Operations / Maintenance

Reports To: Warehouse Manager or Terminal Manager

Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the integrity, safety, and efficiency of a temperature-controlled LTL warehouse facility. This role ensures all building systems, dock equipment, and material handling systems operate reliably to support time-sensitive freight in a climate-controlled environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on:
• Dock doors, levelers, seals, and restraints
• Electrical, plumbing, and lighting systems
• Concrete repairs, racking repairs/adjustments
• Miscellaneous building repairs
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime
• Coordinate with third-party vendors for specialized repairs
• Maintain facility safety standards, including OSHA compliance and hazard prevention
• Conduct daily facility walkthroughs to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns
• Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and compliance documentation
• Support emergency repairs and be available for on-call situations as needed
• Assist with facility upgrades, equipment installations, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualification

Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• 2 years of facility maintenance experience in an industrial or warehouse setting
• Basic knowledge electrical, and mechanical systems
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment independently
• Comfortable working in cold storage environments (refrigerated and freezer conditions)

Preferred:

• Experience in temperature-controlled or food-grade logistics environments
• Basic welding or fabrication skills are a plus

Working Conditions

• Frequent exposure to cold and freezer environments (as low as -10°F)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (climbing, bending, standing)
• May require working nights, weekends, or overtime during peak periods
