Job Description
Educators is seeking a motivated Network Engineer to assist our team with network design, engineering, and operational responsibilities. This position requires a hands-on approach and focuses on maintaining network reliability, security, and comprehensive documentation in an environment primarily utilizing Cisco technologies. Role:
Maintains networks, servers, operating systems and communication links.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for communication links including core network infrastructure, branch networking and routing.
- Responsible for architecture, operation and documentation of the corporate LAN/WAN/SDWAN along with integration of emerging technologies.
- Administer network and data security through system controls, physical routing and filtering devices. Implement ACL and firewall rules as needed
- Provides project management for special projects. Coordinates projects within the department staff, other departments, and external vendors. Maintain partner and vendor relationships.
- Participates in short and long-range planning for the department to select and utilize appropriate technologies to meet the evolving needs of the credit union, employees, and members.
- Maintains a broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies, architectures, and products. Recommend standards, conventions, policies and procedures in all areas of expertise.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Five years to eight years of similar or related experience. Experience with Cisco ACI, ISE, Palo Alto firewalls, and Riverbed monitoring tools
Education: (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills: Training and certifications in computer desktop and networking. Good communication skills and able to work well with others and unsupervised.
- Technical planning and project management experience.
- Ability to discuss technical issues effectively with other data processing professionals as well as non-technical users.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Meraki wireless networking, SolarWinds Orion, and VXLAN.
