We are a well-established, relationship-driven CPA firm in Baldwin WI, looking for a Senior Tax Associate/ Tax Manager who wants a chance to run their own office.

Compensation
We’re transparent and competitive:
- Base pay: $85,000-$140,000
- Overtime: 1.5x pay for OT (busy season typically 50–55 hours/week; Saturdays common)
- Bonus: Most team members earn an additional $4,000–$7,000 in annual bonuses.
- Relocation: $5,000 stipend for candidates relocating more than 60 miles

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual income tax returns (1040):
- Multi-state returns
- Schedule C/E/F
- Rentals, K-1s, high-income scenarios
- Prepare and review small-business and entity returns:
- 1120-S, 1065, 1120 and related state filings
- Oversee and perform small-business accounting work, including:
- Reviewing QuickBooks files
- Year-end cleanups, adjustments, and tie-outs to tax returns
- Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services to individuals and closely held businesses.
- Review staff work; mentor and support junior team members.
- Communicate directly with clients in a professional, approachable, small-town-friendly manner.
- Assist with IRS and state notices, estimates, projections, and tax research; clearly document positions.
- Help refine internal processes, workflows, and service standards.
- Demonstrate leadership and business mindset appropriate for a future partner.
Required Qualifications
- Active CPA or EA license (or very near completion with ability to obtain promptly)
- 3 years recent public accounting experience, including:
- Individual tax preparation and review
- Small-business/entity tax (S corporations, partnerships, and/or corporations)
- Strong working knowledge of:(preferred)
- Professional tax software (Lacerte preferred or similar)
- QuickBooks
- Document/workflow systems (e.g., SmartVault, Creative Solutions)
- Solid federal and state tax knowledge (WI and MN experience a plus)
- Proven ability to handle busy-season hours while maintaining quality and deadlines
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- On-site only: Must be willing to work in our River Falls/Ellsworth, WI office (no remote/hybrid)
