Construction Drafter - Pre-Construction Operations

Fetterville Pole Buildings is seeking a detail-oriented Drafter to join our growing Pre-Construction Operations team.

The position will also support other areas of pre-construction operations as projects move from signed contract through drawing approval, engineering, permitting, material preparation, delivery, and construction.

As our sales volume continues to grow, timely and accurate drawings are critical to keeping projects moving. Our drafters are an integral part of what we do.

The ideal candidate is accurate, organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment. They should be willing to ask questions, learn our processes, and collaborate effectively across departments.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate post-frame building drawings using SketchUp and LayOut
• Create 3D building models, customer renderings, floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction-related layout pages.
• Produce initial drawing sets based on signed contracts, sales sketches, customer selections, and project documentation.
• Complete approved drawing revisions based on customer requests, internal reviews, engineering comments, or township requirements. 
• Work with the Sales, Drafting, and Pre-Construction teams to review project scope and details, confirm the information needed for accurate drawings, and clarify any missing or inconsistent items before drawings are finalized.
• Coordinate with sales representatives, material listers, project managers, and other members of the pre-construction team to communicate project details and keep work moving through the pre-construction process.
• Support efforts to ensure projects are ready before materials are ordered, delivery dates are established, or job packages are released to crews.

Qualifications

• Construction drafting experience and familiarity with SketchUp, LayOut, or other CAD software are preferred but not required; we are willing to train the right candidate.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively with sales, drafting, operations, and construction personnel.
• Willingness to learn post-frame construction methods, company standards, and internal processes.
