Are you passionate about helping people on their journey to parenthood? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate part-time bilingual Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide support to our fertility specialists in delivering exceptional patient care. This role involves assisting with patient procedures, managing patient records, scheduling, and providing emotional support to individuals undergoing fertility treatments.
Schedule: Monday-Friday from 7:30am-12:30pm (with rotating weekends and holidays). This role is expected to transition to a full-time schedule within approximately six months.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain accurate vital signs.
- Assist provider or sonographer with various fertility procedures.
- Escort patients to exam/procedure rooms.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and triaging phone calls.
- Ensure lab specimens are ordered, collected, and sent to proper labs.
- Enter ultrasound and lab orders into EMR.
- Perform specimen collection as needed, with attention to safety and sterility. Ensure accurate labeling of all collected specimens.
- Prepare and maintain a safe surgical environment; such as sterilization of medical instruments using an autoclave and organization of exam rooms and equipment.
- Prepare and stock all exam rooms in treatment areas by following established protocols.
- Assist in ordering supplies when needed and correctly dispose of all expired items.
- Adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations and protocols.
- Communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and patient care team (in the office and by phone).
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of accredited Medical Assistant training program
- Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- CPR Certification
- Bilingual speaking strongly preferred
- Strong computer, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in reproductive medicine or women's health.
- Empathetic and supportive demeanor when interacting with patients.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Flexibility to work rotating weekends and holidays.
