What you will do:
Ferroglobe’ s has an immediate opening for a Staff Electrical Engineer. The person in this role will report to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager. At Ferroglobe, our Electrical Engineers are responsible for providing leadership, engineering, and support in the design and maintenance of Electrical and Automation systems and controls. The incumbent guides and advises the activities of others engaged in activities related to electrical engineering, power systems, reliability/maintenance, automation, and controls to achieve overall plant goals relating to quality, throughput, and efficiency.
- Design and maintain power substations, site plans, duct bank and conduit layouts, grounding systems, and auxiliary power supply systems and control circuits.
- Responsible for selection of electrical equipment and coordinate the completion of electrical layout drawings, power system coordination, cable sizing and selection, routing and schedule drawings as required to complete the defined project.
- Work with contractors on project specification, control plan, system testing and commissioning.
- Responsibility for plant power system equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, switchgear, and circuit switchers in a very energy intensive facility.
- MUST be able to be on call as needed. We are a 24/7/365 operation, if there is a electrical breakdown we may need to return to the site in the middle of the night or repair over the phone or remote in and repair over the computer.
What we seek:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 2 to 5 years of experience with power systems design, including the design of power substations, ac and dc switchgear, transformers, rectifiers, and controls
- Experience in factory testing, field testing and commissioning of power equipment

- Ability to lift 50lbs, Floor to waist, Waist to shoulder. Overhead, Carry 20 feet
- Wears proper PPE in the manufacturing area (shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection)
