What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Photographer position at Ferro Concepts USA Inc.?
We have an obsession for redefining the new standard in tactical equipment. In other words: we make the best gear for the toughest jobs: Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Professionals. Our products are tested and re-tested by today’s Law Enforcement and Military elite. We listen to our customers’ feedback like they are at the drawing board with us. Made in the United States, every stitch serves a purpose. The stylish silhouette that comes with our minimalist design is a fortunate by-product. Our Utah operation is just getting started. Nestled in a historic WW2-era warehouse, our workspace is as unique and full of character as our team.
We are looking for a visual perfectionist to join our team as an In-House Product Photographer. In this industry, the details are not just aesthetic, they are functional. A potential customer needs to see the weave of the nylon, the specific stitching on a MOLLE webbing, and the exact shade of the hardware. This role requires an individual who can eliminate the "guessing game" of quality control. We need someone who can intuitively capture our specific, high-end tactical aesthetic (clean, high-contrast, hyper-detailed) and deliver assets that meet the company's uncompromising standards for clarity, color accuracy, and consistency.
Duties:
- Photograph nylon tactical gear with extreme attention to detail, highlighting fabric texture, stitching, and hardware.
- Execute high-end post-processing to create images with transparent backgrounds (perfect masking/clipping paths required).
- Ensure absolute color accuracy across all product lines.
- Maintain rigid consistency in lighting, angles, and camera settings to ensure all products look uniform on the website.
- Shoot additional "feature" photos that zoom in on specific functionalities (buckles, velcro systems, hidden pockets).
- Create instructional photo series demonstrating how the product is utilized, adjusted, and fully operated (e.g., plate carrier setup, cummerbund adjustment).
- Resize and format all images to specific pixel dimensions and file types for web and print use.
- Receive and implement meticulous feedback from the Director and Manager regarding the "look and feel" of the imagery, refining processes to minimize revisions over time.
- Manage a digital asset library, ensuring files are named and archived correctly.
- Maintain studio equipment and keep the shooting area clean and organized.
Experience:
- Proven professional photography experience, specifically with product photography (portfolio required).
- Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, specifically regarding background removal, color correction, and retouching.
- Experience shooting tactical gear, outdoor equipment, or technical apparel is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to replicate a specific visual style or "mood" consistently.
- Experience with studio lighting setups (strobes, softboxes, reflectors) to eliminate unwanted shadows and highlight textures.
- Expert proficiency with Full-Frame DSLR or Mirrorless camera systems is non-negotiable.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; Photography degree or certification is a plus.
- An eye for detail. You notice if a strap is twisted or a thread is loose before you take the shot.
- Thick skin and a lack of ego regarding creative feedback; ability to adapt quickly to the specific vision.
- Strong organizational skills to manage hundreds of SKUs and file variations.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet launch deadlines.
This position requires a high level of technical skill and patience. The ideal candidate understands that "good enough" does not exist here; we are looking for the new industry standard in visual presentation.
