Director of Accounting

Ferretti Search is delighted to partner with a growing construction and real estate organization to locate their next Director of Accounting.

• Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid: In office Tuesday–Thursday)
• Compensation: $140,000–$160,000 base annual bonus
• Schedule: Full-time, hybrid work structure

What will your day look like?

• Financial Oversight: Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, job cost accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Project & Property Reporting: Oversee job cost tracking, WIP schedules, property-level reporting, capitalization, and project financial analysis.
• Internal Controls: Strengthen policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy and compliance across the organization.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Support leadership by preparing budgets, cash flow projections, and variance analyses.
• Process & Systems Improvement: Evaluate and enhance financial systems and workflows to support growth and operational efficiency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, development, and project management teams to align financial insights with business objectives.

Who are you?

• Experienced Accounting Leader: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
• Industry Background: 7 years of progressive accounting experience within construction, real estate, or a related project-based environment.
• Strong Technical Skills: Skilled in job costing, project accounting, and financial statement preparation.
• Leadership Mindset: Proven ability to mentor teams, collaborate across departments, and drive continuous improvement.
• Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Capable of delivering accurate financial insights to support operational and strategic decisions.
