A rapidly growing, multi-entity insurance organization is seeking a technically strong Accounting Manager to join its expanding finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a public accounting professional, particularly someone coming from a Big Four, national, or large regional firm to move into a high-visibility corporate accounting leadership role with direct exposure to senior management, acquisitions, systems transformation, and the continued development of a scalable finance function.
This is not a maintenance-focused accounting role. The Accounting Manager will take meaningful ownership of the close process, support GAAP-compliant financial reporting, help develop members of the accounting team, and build the infrastructure required to support a fast-growing organization.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and improve key components of the monthly close process
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules
- Improve the speed, accuracy, and consistency of the close
- Ensure accounting activities and financial reporting comply with GAAP
- Support accounting and reporting across multiple legal entities
- Oversee consolidations, intercompany activity, and complex account reconciliations
- Strengthen accounting policies, controls, documentation, and reporting processes
- Participate in acquisition diligence, purchase accounting, and integration activities
- Support debt reporting, bank covenant compliance, and lender requirements
- Partner with finance leadership on strategic initiatives and special projects
- Help evaluate and implement a new ERP and related accounting technologies
- Communicate financial results and accounting matters to nonfinancial stakeholders
- Mentor and develop junior members of the accounting team
- Serve as a hands-on player-coach within a lean, growing department
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA or active CPA candidate strongly preferred
- Public accounting experience, ideally with a Big Four, national, or large regional firm
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience leading or owning monthly close activities
- Prior experience reviewing work and mentoring accounting staff
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite, or similar accounting systems is a plus
- Exposure to multi-entity accounting, consolidations, or complex corporate structures
- M&A, transaction accounting, purchase accounting, or ERP implementation experience is highly desirable
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and take ownership
- Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills
