Description
The Production Lead manages daily production operations, including formulation, filling, packaging, and labeling, overseeing the team, ensuring optimization, compliance, and high quality by performing quality inspections of ingredients, processes, and final products while strictly adhering to regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the production team daily for efficient, on-schedule task completion, acting as a working lead who actively participates in production and provides on-the-floor guidance and mentorship.
- Collaborate with the Production Manager on task assignment, performance monitoring, identifying training needs, and coaching employees on proper techniques.
- Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment, promoting accountability, and proactively report/escalate personnel issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of all production processes, troubleshoot equipment issues quickly, and escalate serious concerns.
- Work with Production Managers to execute the daily packaging schedule, leading weekend/overtime shifts as necessary.
- Arrive before the team (7:30 a.m.) to stage production runs, itemize workflows, and set up workstations.
- Ensure accurate and compliant selection of cannabis and non-cannabis supplies, collaborating with managers on material availability. Manage production orders and packaging assemblies in the ERP system, ensuring Metrc seed-to-sale compliance, and accurately log production data.
- Train and mentor new and existing team members, providing hands-on support to increase capacity.
- Oversee daily cleaning of all production areas and ensure proper material storage.
- Prepare laboratory samples for all production batches, R&D, and quality testing, compiling lab transfer documents and submitting samples to third-party Independent Testing Laboratories (ITLs).
- Review Certificates of Analyses (COAs) and compliance records for product ingredients and production batches.
- Inspect cannabis extract, flower, and terpene ingredients upon intake and support training Production staff on quality control.
- Instruct specific extract batches and mixtures for daily production, preparing terpene blends as needed.
Requirements
- 21 years old (regulatory requirement).
- 1 years Cannabis experience.
- Ability to pass cannabis regulatory pre-screenings.
- Ability physically maintain consistent and repetitive manual work
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional overtime shifts or weekends.
- Proven ability to meet production goals within an established timeline.
- Knowledge of Metrc, Acumatica, or other tracking software.
- Strong production and manufacturing skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong desire to produce a high-quality product.
- Dependable, professional and confident.
- Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
