About the Role:

Fermilab is seeking a Repair Machinist who under general supervision will provide comprehensive maintenance and repair services for all machine tools.

What your day-to-day as an Repair Machinist at Fermilab will look like:

• Participating in the rigging, placement, and installation of newly acquired and relocated conventional, CNC and programmable welding equipment machine tools by utilizing extensive knowledge of CNC control circuitry and operation.
• Developing and implementing appropriate preventative maintenance schedules for all mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic machine tool systems.
• Testing machine tools by set-up and extensive operation or by use of both standard and electronic test equipment to ensure proper operation or do diagnose wear or causes of failure by utilizing formal training in electrical maintenance and wiring and acquired ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot and analyze electrical circuitry.
• Obtaining or making replacements for worn or broken components by reference to manufacturer's specification or by reconstructing the design from broken/worn parts.
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Abiding by and being responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

Skills and Attributes for Success:

• High School
• 10 years of job shop experience and trade school.

Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of manual machining techniques along with knowledge of CNC machine operation.

• Onsite: This is an onsite role, and the candidate must be able to work from our Batavia Office.
