Position Summary
Ferguson is seeking a full-time Electrical Construction CAD Designer to join our team in Plainville, CT. This on-site role is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining detailed construction and technical drawings using industry-standard CAD software. The CAD Designer will work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and the CAD Manager to support project execution through accurate and efficient drafting and design documentation. Primary software platforms include Trimble and Autodesk products.
Key ResponsibilitiesCAD Design & Drafting
- Produce detailed design drawings, layouts, and sketches based on markups, concepts, and project specifications provided by project management teams.
- Support the development of construction documentation for electrical and mechanical systems, including piping and equipment layouts.
- Collaborate with the CAD Manager and Project Managers on complex drafting assignments and project deliverables.
- Develop detailed drawings such as process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment layouts, and installation details.
- Generate and manage bills of materials (BOMs), equipment schedules, and material takeoffs from project drawings and sketches.
- Assist in preparing bid documentation for subcontractors and material suppliers as needed.
- Create, revise, and annotate existing PDF drawings using appropriate drafting and markup software.
- Maintain organized and accurate project documentation in accordance with company standards and document control procedures.
- Stay current with evolving industry standards, software updates, and technical practices through ongoing professional development and training.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and Navisworks Manage for coordination and clash detection.
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction design principles, systems, and industry best practices.
- Field experience in electrical construction or a solid understanding of electrical system layouts and installation methods.
- Ability to interpret construction documents, specifications, and technical drawings accurately.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with project teams and field personnel.
