Title: Speech /Language Pathologist- Early Childhood Special Education
Primary Function: Provide speech and language therapy for children who qualify for special education
services.
Location: To be determined
Directly Responsible To: Director of Early Childhood Special Education
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Speech/Language/Pathologist is responsible for effective performance in the following areas:
- Develop Individual Educational Programs (IEPs).
- Provide speech and language therapy to children.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
- Plan with classroom teacher to provide an integrated approach to meeting the child’s needs.
- Assist in the development of a learning environment, emphasizing communication skills, sensory experiences and motor development.
- Implement a functional language curriculum.
- Maintain logs on children’s progress and development.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding individual children’s progress.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have Masters Degree in Communications Disorders or Speech and Language Pathology.
- Must have the ability to relate well with young children.
- Must have the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
