Role Summary
As the Lead General Maintenance professional, you perform advanced maintenance duties and general repairs while coordinating the daily operations of assigned maintenance staff. Reporting to the Director of Operations/Maintenance, you provide hands-on leadership in preventive maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical support, and HVAC assistance. You are the frontline responder for urgent repairs and the steady hand ensuring our preventive maintenance schedules stay on track.
Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)
- The Multidisciplinary Expert: You bring at least three (3) years of experience in building maintenance, construction trades, or facilities management, with prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.
- Educationally Prepared: High school diploma or GED required.
- Master of Trades: You have hands-on experience in multiple maintenance trades—including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and HVAC support.
- Safety & Code Expert: You have a solid understanding of building systems, safety codes, and OSHA requirements.
- Licensed & Ready: You must possess and maintain a valid Missouri Driver’s License (Class E or higher preferred) and have the ability to operate district vehicles and heavy maintenance equipment.
- Physical Resilience: You are capable of navigating school buildings from rooftops to crawl spaces, frequently lifting up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs with assistance.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
- Trades Leadership: Lead and perform advanced repairs and project work across the district, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and code compliance.
- Operational Coordination: Assist the Director in organizing daily work assignments for maintenance staff, ensuring work orders are prioritized and completed efficiently.
- Preventive Excellence: Oversee and perform scheduled preventive maintenance on district equipment and facilities to prevent costly downtime.
- Emergency Response: Act as a primary responder for urgent maintenance needs, troubleshooting issues quickly to minimize disruptions to student learning.
- Project Stewardship: Assist in coordinating small-to-medium facility projects, from estimating material needs to overseeing final completion.
- Collaborative Support: Partner with school principals and staff to address facility needs, providing clear communication and professional service.
