JOB SUMMARY
Ferguson Construction is an award-winning general contracting company specializing in key sectors like manufacturing, industrial buildings, medical office buildings, healthcare facilities, retail, and commercial spaces. As a Surveyor Technician, you will be a vital part of our team, supporting all our regional offices (Sidney, Dayton, Columbus, and Indianapolis).
We are looking for a detail-oriented, motivated self-starter. The ideal candidate is competent in conducting a variety of surveys, including design surveys, boundary surveys, topography surveys, utility location surveys, and data collection. Familiarity with Trimble data collectors, robotic total stations, and GPS , as well as radio utility locators. This role requires no overnight travel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Execute accurate and detailed surveying for various project needs, including property, boundary, topographic, utility, and record surveys, as well as construction stakeouts.
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail throughout the survey process.
- Collaborate with the design team by assisting with necessary survey research.
- Resolve boundary issues related to property boundaries, rights-of-ways, easements, and utilities through survey and courthouse/deed research.
- Verify and calculate survey measurements to ensure the data is complete and accurate.
- Prepare and send survey data to office personnel for use in design and construction.
- Uphold high professional standards by monitoring quality and compliance, including risk management.
- Ensure the accuracy of all construction site, foundation, and building layout and staking by performing necessary checks during and upon completion of procedures.
- Transmit data collection into Civil 3D and draft existing conditions, for use by Civil Designers in all Design/Build jobs.
- Maintain and organize all survey equipment; ensuring tools are properly calibrated and all materials are well stocked.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND REQUIREMENTS
Experience
- We seek candidates who have at least 3 years of experience in the field.

- Able to read and interpret civil drawings.
- Working knowledge of a Trimble data collector (TSC5), Robot Total Station and GPS receiver (R12i).
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D is preferred.
Requirements (Must Have)
- A valid Driver's License is required.
- You must be able to work primarily outdoors.
- You must be able to perform physical activities such as dragging, stooping, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- You must be able to perform physical activities, including lifting up to 20 pounds.
