Role Description The School Psychologist is a full-time, on-site position located in Fenton, MI, providing psychological services across the district’s schools. The role includes conducting comprehensive psychological and educational assessments, interpreting data, and developing recommendations to support student learning and well-being. The School Psychologist collaborates with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to create intervention plans, support Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and implement tiered supports. Daily responsibilities include individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation with staff, and contributing to behavior and academic support strategies. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, adhering to ethical standards, and participating in ongoing professional learning.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Psychology and Mental Health to understand student needs and evidence-based interventions.
  • Experience in Counseling and providing individual and group support in school or child-focused settings.
  • Proficiency in Psychological Assessment, including administering and interpreting standardized tests and functional evaluations.
  • Knowledge of Medicine as it relates to developmental, neurological, and behavioral factors impacting learning (collaboration with medical providers as appropriate).
  • Master’s or specialist-level degree in School Psychology or closely related field; appropriate state certification or licensure as a School Psychologist (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Familiarity with special education processes, MTSS/RTI frameworks, and legal requirements related to student services.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage multiple caseload demands, maintain confidentiality, and use technology for documentation and data analysis.
