Position Overview
New York law firm is seeking an experienced Residential Real Estate Paralegal with 1–3 years of hands-on experience managing New York residential real estate transactions.
The ideal candidate can independently drive files from contract inception through post-closing, perform thorough due diligence, clear title, and communicate professionally with clients, brokers, lenders, and opposing counsel in a fast-paced environment.
Office Location & Schedule
1. Schedule: Full-time, 5 days per week in-office (limited remote flexibility may be considered for an exceptionally qualified candidate).
2. Location Preference: The candidate may choose to work out of either our Manhattan or White Plains office location.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transaction Management: Handle residential purchases, sales, co-ops, condominiums, townhouses, and single/multi-family properties from inception to closing.
2. Contract & Due Diligence: Draft, review, and mark up contracts; analyze financial statements, offering plans, board minutes, and building questionnaires.
3. Title & Clearances: Perform thorough title review, address title objections, order UCC searches, handle payoffs, and facilitate CEMA documentation.
4. Closing Operations: Prepare closing statements, coordinate/schedule closings with all parties, assemble closing packages, and manage post-closing matters.
5. Client & Intermediary Relations: Serve as the primary administrative liaison with clients, brokers, lenders, escrow agents, and title representatives.
Qualifications
1. Experience: 1–3 years of dedicated New York residential real estate paralegal experience. Strong experience with NY co-ops and condos is preferred.
2. Technical Skills: High degree of proficiency with NY-specific deal structures, CEMAs, title clearance, and closing balance sheets.
3. Work Style: Self-directed, highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of prioritizing competing deadlines across multiple active files simultaneously.
4. Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a client-service orientation.
Compensation & Benefits
1. Base Salary: $60,000–$70,000 annually (offering flexibility for candidates with exceptional co-op/condo expertise and independent transaction capability).
2. Work Environment: Collegial, supportive, and collaborative across both office branches.
