Shipping Coordinator

Basic Scope/Purpose: (The job’s primary purpose or contribution to the department or organization.)

Provides leadership and hands on management to direct the shipping team of the Distribution Center. The role will work directly with the Distribution Center Supervisor and Distribution Center Manager to create a customer focus and sense of urgency in order to achieve World Class customer service levels, as well as identify and solve process gaps and process inefficiencies. The Shipping Coordinator will promote a safety-oriented culture as well as Fenner’s Core principles of Innovation, Collaboration, Competition, Empowerment, and Stewardship.

  • Demonstrates leadership on adherence to safety systems.
  • Foster a spirit of cooperation and consistency, both internally and externally.
  • Promote departmental and inter-departmental teamwork.
  • Adjust schedule to fluctuate work priorities, as needed.
  • Adapt to change in the work environment to maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Use all appropriate technology (ERP System / WMS / Microsoft Office) provided, making recommendations when changes may be beneficial.
  • Ability to operate forklift and other material handling equipment.
  • Ability to jump in and help the team during high volume days.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for all shipping needs, while ensuring there is a functional, proficient backup.
  • Participates in Kaizen events and 5S programs to support our world class endeavor.
  • Ability to logically think through issues and resolve any problems that may arise.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and communicate to team members.
  • Lead daily team stand up meetings.
  • Will serve as the Distribution Center Supervisor’s/Manager’s backup.
  • Daily Order Processing:

o Responsible for onboarding of new team members and ensure a proper training program is in place.

o Daily monitoring of workload and communicating staffing needs to Distribution Center Supervisor/Manager.

o Balance the workload evenly amongst the shipping team as priorities change throughout the day.

o Responsible for accurate shipping documentation (e.g., ASN’s, Export documents, AES filings, etc.)

o Processing of returns and customer feedbacks.

o Proactively communicate with Sales, Planners, Freight Forwarders, and Shipping to ensure fulfillment of orders to our customers.

o Daily follow up to ensure orders are shipped in a timely fashion and report open orders not shipped.

o Work with carriers directly to resolve any shipping related issues and escalate when appropriate.

o Implement standardized work instructions.

o Recommend improvements related to the shipping process. (e.g., communication methods, technology, and/or processes based on an intimate knowledge of these combined with customer requirements.)

o Identify process gaps and implement fixes.

  • High School Diploma
  • Three to five years shipping experience
  • Prior experience in high volume warehouse required
  • ERP system Experience

· Forklift Certified

  • Attend required EHS training
  • Wear the required PPE at all times
  • Take personal responsibility for keeping yourself and your co-workers and visitors free from injury by participating in and/or conducting risk assessments, work place inspections, corrective actions and safety observations.
  • Report incidents, near miss, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and other hazards in the work place. STOP WORK when imminent danger is present
  • Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion and keep equipment in proper working condition.
  • Reinforce safety margins through active participation in incident investigations, corrective actions, managed shift changes, toolbox talks, pre-tasking, STOP WORK, and task scanning.

Team Lead Addendum

Basic Scope/Purpose: (The job’s primary purpose or contribution to the department or organization.)

Safety 1: Responsible for personal safety as well as the safety of others around them. Responsible to operate all assigned equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Responsible for identifying potential hazards in the work place and reporting them for entry in our Near Miss or Hazard ID database.

Quality 2: Responsible for product quality with an unyielding commitment to “Protect the Brand”.

Productivity 3: Responsible to keep production running within established guidelines, work instructions and according to the schedule and/or direction of management.

The Team Leader provides general supervision of direct reports and schedules and provides guidance for daily activities. The Team Leader utilizes resources to the fullest potential to produce exceptional quality products, create a customer focus and sense of urgency in order to achieve World Class customer service.

  • Participates in monthly safety audit and plant-wide safety meetings.
  • Identifies any violations or potential hazards and reports it to manager or safety team member.
  • By utilizing confidential and proprietary resources, schedules and manages daily activities to maximize efficiency and reduce lead time.
  • Provides the required resources to resolve daily issues.
  • Communicates with the appropriate people to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures adherence to and enforces company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that direct reports are properly trained.
  • Provides performance feedback and general supervision to direct reports utilizing the Performance Management Program, including individual reviews (90 day, yearly, etc.)
  • Work with direct reports to develop and support growth toward a formal career plan.
  • Responsible for time and attendance approvals and amendments.
  • Participates and provides input as part of the management team regarding decisions involving hiring, terminations, layoffs, etc.
  • Maintains ISO training checklist and work instructions.
  • Dedicated to LEAN thinking by leading and participating in kaizen or continuous improvement projects (LEAN, leadership development, associate development, etc.).
  • Documents continuous improvement projects.
