What You'll Do
Research, Development & Testing
- Develop testing procedures and perform laboratory tests for assigned R&D and product development projects.
- Document, analyze, and report test results clearly and accurately.
- Assist the Lead and Senior Chemist in developing, mixing, and testing rubber and polymer formulations.
- Analyze current and historical test data and project requirements to develop action plans and next steps for ongoing projects.
Product Evaluation & Benchmarking
- Perform product, market, and competitor benchmarking through testing and analysis of internal and competitor compounds.
- Document and report benchmarking results and identify performance gaps, risks, or improvement opportunities.
- Perform testing and analysis on compounds under question due to quality concerns, customer feedback, or process changes.
Laboratory Operations & Chemical Management
- Maintain laboratory compound and chemical storage areas in compliance with safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards.
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and materials.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and tools as required.
Data Management & Documentation
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, reports, and electronic documentation in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements.
- Support audits, certifications, and internal reviews through proper documentation and data availability.
Cross-Functional & Operational Support
- Support manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams by providing timely testing and technical support.
- Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis related to compound performance, quality issues, or process changes.
Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping
- Follow all safety, chemical hygiene, and hazard communication requirements.
- Participate in safety programs, audits, and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
Other Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager to support departmental and business needs.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field.
- Basic understanding of polymers, rubber compounding, or industrial materials.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and data accuracy
- Ability to work safely in a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
- Experience in rubber, polymer, or industrial manufacturing.
- Familiarity with ASTM, ISO, and industry test standards.
