What are the responsibilities and job description for the Window and Door Territory Sales Representative position at Fenhaus?
The Opportunity
Fenhaus is hiring a Window and Door Sales Representative to grow our business across Western PA, Northern WV, and Eastern OH. This is a consultative sales role for someone who already understands building products, can write accurate quotes independently, and wants the freedom to build a serious book of business with premium product lines behind them.
Fenhaus represents a focused portfolio anchored by Loewen and Weather Shield, with additional curated lines we discuss with serious candidates. The territory is full of builders and homeowners doing real work, and the right person will own this market by being more knowledgeable, more responsive, and more helpful than anyone else they work with.
There is no committee approving your estimates and no bottleneck between you and your clients. You earn business by being the most helpful, most responsive, and most knowledgeable person your clients work with.
Role Overview
You will own the full sales cycle from prospecting through close. You will write all of your own quotes and estimates. You will manage your own pipeline. You will close your own deals. You will report to Jeremy directly, but you will operate independently day to day.
Approximately 80 percent of your work will be focused on builders, remodelers, and project driven opportunities. The other 20 percent will be homeowner inquiries, handled consultatively through education, showroom visits, and product guidance. Fenhaus does not offer installed sales or in home high pressure sales presentations. Your ability to match the right product to the right project and the right budget is what sets you apart.
What You Will Do
Build New Business
- Prospect mid grade and high grade builders, remodelers, and homeowners across the territory
- Build relationships through outreach, showroom visits, job site visits, and industry networking
- Move qualified prospects through the sales cycle from introduction to first project
- Maintain a healthy pipeline of active opportunities in Pipedrive at all times
Write Quotes Independently
- Write all quotes and estimates for your accounts using current Fenhaus pricing, product configurations, and lead time data
- Configure product selections accurately across the full Fenhaus portfolio
- Match the right product line to the right project based on design intent, performance requirements, and budget
- Present quotes with confidence and the ability to explain product choices, performance tradeoffs, and pricing rationale
Manage Your Accounts
- Respond quickly and professionally to client inquiries, with same day follow up as the standard whenever possible
- Own the full client experience from first contact through project completion and reorder
- Keep Pipedrive records current for all assigned accounts
- Proactively follow up on open quotes and pending projects without being asked
Know Your Products and Your Market
- Maintain working knowledge across the full Fenhaus product portfolio with deep fluency in Loewen and Weather Shield
- Use the Fenhaus showroom as a selling tool, bringing qualified prospects in for product presentations
- Stay current on the residential construction market across the territory including new developments and competitive activity
- Attend manufacturer product training sessions to stay current on new introductions and technical updates
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means you are consistently building new builder relationships, turning around accurate quotes without hand holding, following up before clients have to chase you, and growing repeat business by becoming a trusted window and door resource. Within 60 days you are writing quotes independently. Within 90 days you are closing business. By the end of year one, you have established a productive book of business that grows year over year.
What We Are Looking For
Required
- Three or more years of outside sales experience selling windows and doors
- Existing professional relationships with builders, remodelers, architects, designers, contractors, or other referral sources in Western PA, Northern WV, or Eastern OH
- Demonstrated ability to write accurate quotes and estimates for window and door projects independently
- Working knowledge of product configuration, glazing options, and pricing for at least one premium clad wood window and door manufacturer
- Self directed and comfortable managing your own schedule, pipeline, and priorities without close supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with a CRM platform, (we use Pipedrive)
- Located in or willing to relocate to the Pittsburgh metro area
Strongly Preferred
- Hands on experience quoting and configuring products from Loewen, Weather Shield, Marvin, Lapage, Pella, Andersen, Kolbe, or comparable manufacturers
- Familiarity with premium wood and clad wood window and door systems
- Understanding of the residential design and construction process and where window and door decisions are made
- Experience working in a small, entrepreneurial company where you owned the full sales cycle end to end
This Role Is a Strong Fit If
- You have sold windows and doors before and know how to manage your own pipeline
- You are comfortable writing your own quotes without depending on a pricing team for every estimate
- You are motivated by a base plus commission structure where performance directly drives earnings
- You take pride in matching the right product to the right project, even when it is not the most expensive option
- You want the autonomy of running your own territory in a small, premium company
This May Not Be the Right Fit If
- You are looking for a heavily managed sales role with daily check ins and a structured script
- You are coming from an installed sales or in home high pressure sales environment
- You need someone else to handle quoting and configuration for you
- You are uncomfortable selling across a curated portfolio that includes products beyond the most premium tier
- You do not have existing relationships in the territory and need to start from zero
Compensation
This is a commission based role with a competitive base salary and uncapped commission. Productive reps have a realistic path to six figure earnings as their book of business develops, with top performer upside meaningfully above that. Compensation is designed to account for the independence of the role, including routine territory travel and relationship development expenses. Detailed compensation structure is shared with finalists during the interview process.
Schedule and Location
Your primary place of work will be the Fenhaus showroom in Pittsburgh, with flexibility for remote work as appropriate. Standard business hours with flexibility to attend early morning or evening networking events as needed. Regular travel within the territory for client visits, job site visits, and industry events. Occasional travel for manufacturer product training.
What to Expect in Your First 90 Days
The first 30 days are focused on product orientation across the full Fenhaus portfolio, with deep training on Loewen and Weather Shield first. You will learn the quoting process and practice on sample projects of varying complexity. By day 60, you will be writing quotes independently, conducting prospect meetings, and building your pipeline. By day 90, you will operate as a fully independent sales professional managing all client interactions and closing deals.
How to Apply
Send your resume and a brief note answering the following question to careers@fenhaus.us:
“Tell us about one window or door product line you have sold and the type of customer you sold it to.”
Your answer does not need to be long. A few specific sentences will tell us more than a polished cover letter.
