Role Overview

Fenco Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive quotations for commercial laboratory furniture, industrial furniture, and architectural casework projects.

This role is responsible for reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents, performing quantity takeoffs, and developing complete project estimates using Fenco's product catalog and pricing systems. The Estimator works closely with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Project Management to ensure proposals are accurate, competitive, and aligned with customer requirements while supporting profitable business growth.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with attention to detail, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

·       Review architectural drawings, bid packages, specifications, and addenda to understand project requirements.

·       Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for laboratory casework, countertops, shelving, tables, accessories, and related products.

·       Interpret customer requirements and align project specifications with Fenco's product offerings.

·       Prepare complete project estimates, including material, manufacturing, hardware, freight, installation, and optional products.

·       Identify scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, and commercial risks during the estimating process.

·       Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) when project documentation requires clarification.

·       Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Project Management to develop accurate and competitive proposals.

·       Revise estimates as project drawings, specifications, and scope evolve throughout the bidding process.

·       Support value engineering efforts by identifying cost-effective alternatives while maintaining project intent and quality.

·       Meet quotation deadlines while effectively managing multiple projects and competing priorities.

·       Continuously improve estimating accuracy, efficiency, and overall proposal quality.


Required Skills

·       Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, floor plans, elevations, sections, and project specifications.

·       Experience performing accurate quantity takeoffs from construction documents.

·       Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

·       Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

·       Effective time management with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

·       Ability to collaborate effectively across Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Project Management.

·       Sound commercial judgment with an understanding of project costs and profitability.


Preferred Qualifications

·       3 years of estimating experience in commercial cabinetry, architectural millwork, laboratory furniture, institutional casework, commercial interiors, or construction estimating.

·       Experience estimating laboratory furniture or architectural casework projects.

·       Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit drawings.

·       Experience using estimating software.

·       Knowledge of AWI standards and commercial construction practices.

·       Experience working with ERP or manufacturing software.
