Position Summary
The Certified PTI Level 2 Multistrand and Grouted Post-Tensioning (PT) Inspector is responsible for performing inspection, testing, and documentation of post-tensioning systems to ensure compliance with PTI standards, project specifications, and applicable codes. This role requires extensive knowledge of multistrand and grouted PT systems, installation procedures, stressing operations, and corrosion protection methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections of post-tensioning systems, including multistrand and grouted PT installations, in accordance with PTI Level 2 certification requirements
- Verify proper installation of tendons, ducts, anchorages, and grout materials
- Observe and document pre-stressing, stressing, and post-stressing operations
- Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and PTI/ACI standards
- Review shop drawings, stressing procedures, and material certifications
- Monitor grouting operations, including grout mix, placement, and quality control
- Inspect corrosion protection systems and ensure proper sealing and encapsulation
- Verify calibration of stressing equipment and ensure proper use in the field
- Maintain accurate inspection reports, logs, and daily documentation
- Identify non-conforming work and communicate deficiencies to project stakeholders
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve issues
- Ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations
Qualifications
- Current PTI Level 2 Certification (Multistrand and Grouted PT systems required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering/construction preferred)
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in post-tensioning inspection or related field
- Strong understanding of:
- PTI specifications and guidelines
- ACI and ASTM standards related to PT systems
- Multistrand and grouted tendon systems
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Proficiency in inspection reporting tools and basic computer applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure or commercial construction projects
- Additional certifications (e.g., ACI, ICC, NDT certifications)
- Knowledge of corrosion mitigation and advanced PT systems
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification
