Duties
- Manage patient billing, insurance verification, and claims processing using Open Dental.
- Review and update patient documentation, ensuring accuracy in medical records and billing information.
- Handle insurance authorizations, pre-approvals, and follow-up on outstanding claims to maximize reimbursements.
- Utilize Open Dental to treatment plan efficiently.
- Assist patients with financial arrangements, payment plans, and explanation of treatment costs clearly and professionally. Knowledge of Care Credit a must.
- Verify insurance benefits including, HIPAA compliance, ADA coding for accurate billing.
- Maintain organized filing systems for medical history and dental records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide front desk support including multi-line phone system management, appointment scheduling, and patient intake procedures.
- Perform tasks such as data entry with 10-key typing skills, filing, and maintaining office supplies.
- Support the dental team by coordinating care plans and ensuring seamless communication between clinical staff and administrative functions.
Experience
- Proven experience in dental billing, (ADA coding), and insurance verification within a dental setting.
- Familiarity with Open Dental is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management practices.
- Previous clinic or dental office experience demonstrating excellent customer service skills at the front desk or reception area.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and multi-line phone systems.
- Experience with dental administrative support tasks such as documentation review, filing, and dental records management.
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining high levels of accuracy in documentation review and billing processes.
