Engineer

The Engineer is responsible for applying engineering principles and practices in the design and redesign of Felling Trailers.

Essential Specific Job Duties:

1.  Keeps abreast of changes, developments and new products in his/her area of responsibility and advises management of potential applicability
2.  Conducts special studies and analysis in his/her area of responsibility as directed.
3. Reviews sales orders, sketches, specifications and related data and obtains any other necessary information or data for engineering  projects.
4. Manages multiple engineering projects and prioritizes work to assure the attainment of deadlines.
5. Creates new trailer and component designs utilizing computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software.
6. Refines existing designs to meet customers’ specifications.
7. Performs all necessary calculations such as stress analysis, performance analysis, hydraulics, etc.
8. Reviews/approves the work of assigned Drafters/Designers and assists with their inquiries.
9. Reviews designs/drawings and releases to production when in compliance with engineering  principles, Felling standards, customer requirements and related specifications.
10.  Interacts with production, sales, and quality assurance personnel to solve manufacturing/ design issues and refinements.
11.  Keeps management informed of progress on engineering projects, work status, work load, problems, etc. 
12.  Maintains a working knowledge of lighting and braking standards to assure compliance with applicable standards.
13.  Participates in the design and maintenance of Felling engineering and drafting standards.
14.  Works with suppliers as needed to analyze their products for use with Felling Trailers.
15.  Accompanies sales personnel on customer calls as needed.
16.  Participates in the testing of trailer capacities as needed.
17.  Works on projects of moderate complexity.
18.  Works with close supervision from Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager

Education: Bachelor’s Degree                                      

Related Experience: 5 years
