Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Controller / Head of Finance to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of a growing Multi Venture Company (Heavy Civil, Land Development, Construction, Home Building, etc.) This role is best suited for a detail-oriented finance professional who is comfortable operating close to transactions while maintaining control, accuracy, and compliance across accounting and reporting functions.
This is a working role with significant involvement in accounting execution, process management, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Duties
- Accounting & Financial Operations
- Day-to-day accounting operations, including:
Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare monthly financial statements and internal management reports
- Coordinate with external CPA firm for tax filings, audits, and reviews
- Ensure compliance with tax, payroll, and regulatory requirements
- Manage insurance, bonding, and lender reporting requirements
Systems & Process
- Maintain accounting systems and workflows
- Improve documentation and internal controls over time
- Serve as the primary point of contact for financial systems and vendors
- Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum and Quickbooks Desktop
Collaboration
- Partner with ownership and operations leadership to provide financial insight
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
- Respond to ad hoc financial questions from leadership
- General ledger
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Cash management and bank reconciliations
- Payroll coordination
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP
- Oversee job costing and WIP reporting specific to construction operations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
- CPA preferred (or strong public accounting background)
- 5 years of accounting or finance experience
- Construction industry experience strongly preferred
- Comfortable in a hands-on, execution-focused role
- Able to work independently with limited administrative support
- Pragmatic, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure
- Strong communication skills and professional judgment
- Experience in real estate development a plus
Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
