Hey, candy lovers! In partnership with our client Tootsie Roll Industries, we are seeking a Controls Engineer to help shape the future of their beloved Cambridge Brands Inc. A division of Tootsie Roll Industries and home of the longest-running candy manufacturing plant in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They produce Junior Mints, Sugar Babies, Charleston Chews, Junior Caramels, Tootsie Mini Bites, and Mini Bites.
About the Company
Cambridge Brands Inc. is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to manage and oversee all controls and electrical systems within their Cambridge, Massachusetts plant. These efforts will include electrical design, PLC/HMI programming, reading and creating control schematics in AutoCAD Electrical, and maintaining and troubleshooting electrical/electronic systems. This is a leadership position with direct reports including 3 Plant Electricians who this Controls Engineer will be responsible for mentoring, training, and managing. This is a full-time, salaried position with expectation to work 1st shift and occasional overtime as needed.
About the Role
Cambridge Brands Inc. is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to manage and oversee all controls and electrical systems within their Cambridge, Massachusetts plant.
Responsibilities
Design, build and maintain electrical/electronic systems and equipment including but not limited to:
- Automated conveyor and packaging equipment
- Robotic cells
- Industrial communications networks
- Building HVAC and lighting
- Oversee and manage site’s electrical department
- Utilize leadership experience to mentor and manage team of Plant Electricians
- Design, draft, red-line, maintain, and organize wiring schematics and system drawings
- Adjust parameters in machines, VFDs, and servo motors
- Troubleshoot and adjust PLC and HMI programs
- Electrically tune and troubleshoot equipment for proper operation
- Assist in the assembly, programming, and installation of equipment as necessary
- Provide training to internal personnel as necessary
- Clearly and professionally interact with internal personnel and external contractors
- Provide technical support for plant processes and improvements
- Observe facility operations on a regular basis
- Communicate with Supervisors on a daily basis
Qualifications
Education
- BSEE or BSEET Degree preferred
Required Skills
- Candidate must be familiar with Allen Bradley PLC Programming Software, FactoryTalk View
- AutoCAD Electrical experience with projects and customization is a plus
- Strong candidates will also have experience programming and using: Siemens, B and R, Schneider, Omron, Beckhoff, AutomationDirect controllers
- Basic knowledge of food processing plants and good manufacturing practices
- Basic knowledge of proper work ergonomics and OSHA requirements for industrial applications
Preferred Skills
- Experience with additional programming languages or software related to controls engineering
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
