Overview
Felicity is a therapeutic day school providing educational services to special education students with emotional disabilities, other health impairments, and learning disabilities. We have a team approach to servicing our students and provide a safe and engaging environment where students can be successful. We are committed to ‘developing the minds and elevating the spirit’ of our students who range from 6-12 grade.
Felicity School is seeking an Educational Director/Principal to oversee school program operations and improve educational outcomes for its special needs students. The ideal candidate possesses the necessary Illinois licenses, and has demonstrated a track record of successful and strong leadership skills. The role includes significant involvement in staff development and leadership in creating a safe and successful environment for all students. The Principal:
· Serves as the chief administrator and instructional leader of a private therapeutic special education day school
· Establishes and maintains educational programs
· Maintains a positive school climate for the learning
· Manages day to-day operations of the school program
· Improves instruction and student outcomes through staff development and curriculum implementation
· Assists with the interviewing, hiring, and assigning of certificated and classified staff; formally evaluates certificated and classified staff as required
· Participates in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings for enrolled students; verifies that the meetings are conducted annually and that the necessary records and other legally required documents are completed and processed by all staff members involved
· Recommends, and implements student intervention or disciplinary actions
· Serves as primary liaison between Felicity School and partner school districts
· Interacts with state agencies to optimize services for students
· Provides parents with information concerning the special needs of the students
· Performs other duties as assigned
Valid Illinois teaching and administrative credentials, Special Education Director license preferred.
