Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic team. This position is responsible for performing the tasks involved in the shipping, storing and distributing of materials, parts, supplies and equipment. Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped. The employee may also perform inventory control, including cycle count, data entry, report generation and reconciliation. Determines labeling requirements including but not limited to: Assemble and pack product containers, preparing and affixing shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information for cartons, skids or other storage devices in an accurate manner including any special labels that are customer required. Prepares all shipping documents in a timely and accurate manner. Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
Responsibilities
- Pick and ship customer orders accurately and in the timeframes required
- Manage inventory of product stored in the warehouse; ensure inventory accuracy
- Work with carriers to ensure advantageous pricing and timeliness
- Update computer system with shipping activity
- Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers
- 100% inventory accuracy
- 100% on time and 100% accurate for customer shipments
- Timely & accurate system updates
- Responsible to make arrangements for pick-up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions
- Must report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
- Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times
- Required to forward a requisition for shipping materials to the department supervisor for approval
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to organize and prioritize effectively
- Ability to interpret data and make cost effective decisions
- Communicate with co-workers, management, vendors, and others in a courteous and professional manner
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
- Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment
- General housekeeping, maintenance and organization of the dock and inventory areas
Requirements
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving or a related field is preferred.
- UPS and Fedex software knowledge, preferred
- Knowledge of SAP (S4), preferred
- Ability to operate equipment such as pallet jacks
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing individual responsibilities.
- Physical capability to lift heavy items as required by the job duties.

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
